Sometimes, the dream holiday of sun and beach in Mallorca doesn’t go exactly as expected, and you end up facing a rainy day. But don’t worry: there are still plenty of ways to enjoy the island.
1. Discover the villages of the Serra de Tramuntana
You can plan a road trip and enjoy the charm of each village, its cafés, cobbled streets, and spectacular landscapes.
If the rain is not too heavy, exploring the villages of the Serra de Tramuntana can become one of the best plans of your trip. The scenic roads, stone houses, and peaceful atmosphere make even a grey day feel special.
Estellencs
One of the smallest and most authentic villages in the Serra. Surrounded by mountains and terraces, it stands out for its tranquility and sea views. On rainy days it’s perfect for wandering slowly through its narrow streets, having a hot coffee in a covered terrace, and enjoying the rural Mallorcan atmosphere.
Valldemossa
Probably the most famous village in the area. Its cobbled streets and flower-filled façades create a very special atmosphere. Here you can visit the famous Royal Charterhouse of Valldemossa, where Frédéric Chopin and George Sand spent a winter. It’s also typical to try coca de patata with hot chocolate.
Deià
Deià has a bohemian and artistic vibe that makes it unique. For years it has been a refuge for painters, writers, and musicians drawn by its scenery and peace. Walking through its streets in the rain is especially charming, with views of the mountains and the Mediterranean. It also has small art galleries and cozy cafés.
Sóller
Surrounded by orange groves and mountains, Sóller combines tradition and local life. One of its highlights is the main square, where you can take shelter in a café while admiring the impressive Church of Sant Bartomeu de Sóller. If the weather allows, you can also ride the historic tram that connects the town with the port.
Fornalutx
Considered one of the most beautiful villages in Spain, Fornalutx enchants visitors with its cobbled streets, flower-filled stairways, and traditional stone houses. It is small but very picturesque, ideal for a relaxed walk on a rainy morning and for experiencing the most authentic side of Mallorca.
Tip for the route
A great idea is to do a circular road trip starting from Palma and stop at several villages throughout the day. Even in the rain, the misty mountain landscapes and lush vegetation of the Serra de Tramuntana can look especially beautiful.
2. Plans with children
The Palma Aquarium is a perfect option for a family day out. Being an indoor space, it allows you to comfortably spend the day while discovering the flora and fauna of the Mediterranean and tropical regions.
It also has restaurants and children’s play areas, making it a very complete experience for the little ones.
We offer a combined voucher that includes a catamaran experience and admission to Palma Aquarium. Take a look.
3. Go shopping
If you prefer a more urban plan, you can take the opportunity to go shopping. Some recommended options are:
And if you feel like strolling through Palma’s city centre, you can walk along the elegant Passeig del Born, Avinguda de Jaume III, and Las Ramblas, some of the island’s most well-known shopping areas.
